Briquetting

The latest emerging technology in today’s world is briquetting. The origin of briquetting started back in the mid of 19^th century. With the enhancement of technology and awareness among the people regarding the use of renewable, the concept of briquetting is also increasing in the trend. The main benefit of briquetting is that the raw materials required are easily available; it is pollution free and does not have the possibility of becoming extinct. Most of the developing countries inhabit farming and produce large quantities of agro residues that cause pollution. This is used in briquetting and hence helps in reducing the problem of waste disposal.

Briquetting is the process of generating briquettes which are utilized in various commercial, household and industrial applications. Now let’s see what a briquette is. A briquette is a compressed block of biowaste i.e. the agricultural and forestry waste like stalks, stems, leaves, seed covers, etc. This waste is processed in special briquetting plants that form the briquettes. The final product is then supplied to industries where it is used for generating heat, electricity, in boilers, etc.

The process of briquetting consists of mainly 4 steps:

1. Gathering the agro forestry waste
2. Crushing the raw material
3. Compression to form the block
4. Drying the final product

Today briquetting is growing at a very fast rate for making business by recovering energy and generate revenue from the waste. There are special briquetting machine available in the market to prepare briquettes of specific shape and size. The production capacity of the machine varies in each model as per the need of the industry that produces the briquette. These briquettes are compressed blocks and thus have great thermal calorific value. Briquetting can be considered as a great option and idea to save the environment and move towards a clean and green world.
